Perth: Meat-fare Sunday Dinner hosted by the Castellorizian Association of WA

On Meat-fare Sunday, the 23rd of February 2025, the Castellorizian Association of WA held its annual Apokries Dinner at the Castellorizian House in Mt Hawthorn, Western Australia.
The event was held in the presence of His Grace Bishop Elpidios of Perth and with the attendance of the Honourable Consul for Greece in Perth, Mrs Eleni Georgopoulou, State Government Minister for Planning the Honourable John Carey BA MLA, Mayor of Vincent Alison Xamon, former Governor of Western Australia Ken Michael and former Speaker of the State Legislative Assembly The Honourable Michael Sutherland MLA.
The President of the Castellorizian Association of WA, Mr Kevin Kannis, opened the evenings proceedings by thanking His Grace for His presence and asking Him to bless the meal. His Grace wished all in attendance a blessed Lenten journey and conveyed the blessings of His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia.

Following this, Mr Kannis thanked everyone for attending and supporting the important annual event for the association, and especially the committee and volunteers who put in so many hours into the organisation.
The evening was highlighted for the association by the presentation of a State Government grant of $50,000 by The Honourable John Carey representing the Minister for Multicultural Interests, The Honourable Dr Tony Buti.
A wonderful evening was enjoyed by all with live Greek music, Greek dancing and traditional Castellorizian sweets served for dessert.
