Patriarchal and Synodal Divine Liturgy for the 1700th anniversary of the First Ecumenical Council of Nicaea

The Ecumenical Patriarchate has announced that on Sunday, 1 June 2025, when the Church commemorates the Holy Fathers of the First Ecumenical Council of Nicaea, His All-Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew will preside over a Patriarchal and Synodal Divine Liturgy at the Patriarchal Church of Saint George in the Phanar.
During the Divine Liturgy, a special Patriarchal Encyclical will be read aloud. This encyclical has been prepared to mark the anniversary of the historic Council, which was a pivotal moment in the life of the Church. The First Ecumenical Council, convened in Nicaea in 325 AD, laid the foundations of Orthodox faith by articulating the Nicene Creed, a defining expression of Christian doctrine.
The announcement highlights the significance of the occasion for Orthodox Christians worldwide, as the Church honours the memory and teachings of the Holy Fathers who defended and defined the faith against heresy.
