Patriarch of Antioch celebrates Sunday of Orthodoxy in Damascus

His Beatitude Patriarch John X of Antioch and All the East presided over the Divine Liturgy for the Sunday of Orthodoxy, marking the first Sunday of Great Lent, at the Maryamiyya Cathedral in Damascus.

Assisting in the service were Bishops, Archimandrite Philip Vasiltsev, representative of the Patriarch of Moscow to the Patriarchate of Antioch, as well as several priests and deacons.

Among those present at the service were Greek Ambassador His Excellency Mr. Emmanuel Kakavelakis and Member of the European Parliament Nikolaos Farantouris, highlighting the significance of the occasion for both the local and international Orthodox communities.

At the conclusion of the Divine Liturgy, the Synodikon for the Sunday of Orthodoxy was recited, reaffirming the Church’s steadfast commitment to the Orthodox faith and the veneration of holy icons.
