Patriarch of Alexandria honours late Patriarch Parthenios III with Memorial Service

On 23 July 2024, His Beatitude Pope and Patriarch Theodoros II of Alexandria and All Africa attended the Divine Liturgy at the Patriarchal Monastery of Saint Savvas the Sanctified in Alexandria. Following the service, a memorial service was held to honour his predecessor and mentor, Patriarch Parthenios III of Alexandria, who served from 1986 to 1997.
During the heartfelt memorial service, Patriarch Theodore shared personal experiences and moments from the late Patriarch’s tenure, highlighting his deep admiration and respect for Patriarch Parthenios III. He reminisced about his ordination to the priesthood under Parthenios III, when he served as the Auxiliary Bishop of the once shining forth Diocese of Cyrene.
Additionally, it was noted that Patriarch Theodoros had recently performed a memorial service on 20 July at the graves of his late predecessors, Nicholas VI and Parthenios III, in Cairo.
