Paschal Panegyri (Celebrations) at the Archdiocesan District of Perth

With the blessing of His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia, the annual Paschal Panegyri took place on Saturday the 18th of May on the grounds of the Archdiocesan District of Perth offices.

The day commenced with the Divine Liturgy at the Church of Saint Nektarios, and which was officiated by His Grace Bishop Elpidios of Kyanea.

The staff and students of the Greek Language and Culture Institute of Evangelismos attended the service and partook in the procession around the church. In his sermon, His Grace congratulated all the teachers for their hard work in trying to maintain the Greek language and culture amongst the next generation. He also reminded the students the importance of learning a second language and how their hard efforts will not go to waste.

Following the Divine Liturgy, the Archdiocesan District of Perth Paschal Panegyri took place opposite the Church of Saint Nektarios which is located next to the offices of the Perth District.

Close to 250 people attended the celebrations including the Consul of Greece in Perth, Mrs Georgia Karasiotou together with the Consulate staff. It was lovely to see so many young families attend this Archdiocese event.

A huge thank you goes out to all volunteers including the young men who prepared and cooked the delicious lambs on the spit as well as to everyone who helped set and pack up on the day.
