Official welcoming of the New Consul of Greece to the Perth Diocese Offices

The recently appointed Consul of Greece in Perth, Mrs Eleni Georgopoulou, was officially invited to the Offices of the Holy Diocese of Perth on Monday 2nd of December 2024.

His Grace Bishop Elpidios of Perth, on behalf of His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia, warmly welcomed the Consul together with her husband and two children.

Invited also was Mr Dimitrios Limnios who recently received from His All-Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew the title of Archon of the Holy and Great Church of Christ.

During the night, which included the hosting of a meal, His Grace Bishop Elpidios played two video snippets. The first included a video produced by the “Vema of the Church” on Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew’s Apostolic Visit to Australia while the second one shown was produced by the Diocese of Perth in commemoration of the centenary of our Holy Archdiocese.

His Grace also presented the Consul with the Archdiocese Coin specially designed in honour of the bicentennial jubilee year of the beginning of the 1821 Greek War of Independence as well as the set of four Archdiocese coins produced in honour of the centenary of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of Australia.

At the end of the night there were additional exchanges of Christmas gifts in which His Grace wished everyone a blessed and holy Feast of the Nativity.
