NSW Sunday School Teachers’ Seminar

With the blessing of His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia, and in the presence of the Chancellor of the Holy Archdiocese Archimandrite of the Ecumenical Throne Christophoros Krikellis, the Sunday School teachers of NSW gathered on Thursday 3 August for the third teachers’ seminar of the year.Mr Kosmas Kokkinos shared excerpts of a talk presented by Elder Aimilianos of Simonopetra at a gathering of Cypriot Sunday School Teachers in 1988. The focus of this presentation was on four guiding principles — the freedom, dogma, consolation and ecclesiastical phronema — that should characterise the work of all Sunday School teachers so that the joy of living a life in Christ can be properly communicated to the souls of all our Sunday School children. To close the evening, Fr Christophoros reflected on the importance of being Christ-like so that each child senses the presence of God and receives the spiritual nourishment they need to continue living the Liturgy in the world.
