Newly elected Metropolitan Nikiforos of Gortynia & Megalopoli officiates at historic Halkida parish of St. Paraskevi

The newly elected Metropolitan of Gortynia & Megalopoli, His Eminence Nikiforos, on Sunday returned to officiate at an emotional Orthros and Divine Liturgy at the historic parish of St. Paraskevi, the patron saint of the south-central city of Halkida.

His Eminence had served for 13 years as the Protopresbyter of the specific parish before his recent election to Metropolis of Gortynia by members of the Holy Synod of the Autocephalous Orthodox Church of Greece.

His Eminence later officiated at the Divine Liturgy, co-officiated by the resident Metropolitan Chrysostomos and the First Secretary of the Holy Synod, His Grace Bishop Filotheos, and attended by the visiting Patriarchate of Alexandria’s Metropolitan of Nigeria, His Eminence Alexandros.
