Mitsotakis to make official visit to Mount Athos

Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis is scheduled to make an official two-day visit to Mount Athos on Friday and Saturday – his first official visit to the autonomous monastic community, also known as “Agion Oros” (Holy Mountain), since taking office in 2019.
During the visit, the prime minister will travel to Karyes, the administrative center of Mount Athos, where he will meet with representatives of the 20 monasteries as well as the governing authorities. He is also expected to attend a formal dinner with them during his stay.
As part of his itinerary, Mitsotakis will visit the monasteries of Iviron, Vatopedi, Simonopetra, and Xenophontos.
