Metropolitan Theodoritos of Elaia falls asleep in the Lord

Metropolitan Theodoritos of Elaia, at the age of 84, fell asleep in the Lord on Wednesday, 5 March 2025.
According to information, the Metropolitan was being treated at ΝΙΜΤΣ (The 417 Army Equity Fund Hospital) Hospital.
Metropolitan Theodoritos (Stylianos Tsirigotis) was born in the village of Velia, Laconia, in 1941.
He initially studied Theology at the Theological School of Halki, but due to its suspension, he completed his studies at the Theological School of Athens, from which he graduated in 1974.
In 1979 he was awarded a doctorate from the School of Philosophy of Grenoble, France.
In 1963 he was tonsured a monk at the Holy Monastery of the Forty Martyrs in Sparta.
He was ordained a Deacon on 30 January 1964 and a Presbyter on 1 July 1967 by Metropolitan Kyprianos of Monemvasia and Sparta.
He served as Abbot of the Holy Monastery of the Forty Martyrs in Sparta from 1968 to 1976.
In 1978 he was appointed Professor of the Patmiada Ecclesiastical School and was subsequently seconded to Persia as Patriarchal Exarch and Director of the Greek School there.
He served as Abbot of the Holy Monastery of Vlatadon from 1980 to 1985.
On 25 March 1984, he was ordained Titular Bishop of Elaia. He then retired from 1985.
On 10 January 2023, he was promoted to acting Metropolitan with the same title.
