Metropolitan of Kyiv congratulates Pope Leo XIV on his election

His Beatitude Metropolitan Epiphaniy of Kyiv extended warm congratulations on social media following the election of American born Robert Francis Prevost as the new Pope Leo XIV of the Roman Catholic Church. Upon accepting his election by the 133-member College of Cardinals on May 8, 2025, in the Sistine Chapel, the new pontiff chose the name Pope Leo XIV.

In his message, the Metropolitan wrote:

“I congratulate our brothers and sisters in Christ — Catholics of both Eastern and Latin rites — on the election of the new head of the Roman Catholic Church, Pope Leo XIV.

He has become the new Latin Bishop of Rome, Head of the Vatican City State and the Holy See, elected on 8 May 2025, during the conclave held in the Sistine Chapel.

I wish the elected Pontiff a successful ministry for the good of all Christians, in the name of bearing witness to the Gospel and for the increase of peace and goodwill throughout the world!”
