Metropolitan Kyrillos of Moschonisia Passes Away at 83

On Monday, 26 May 2025, His Eminence Metropolitan Kyrillos of Moschonisia, Hierarch of the Ecumenical Throne, fell asleep in the Lord
The relevant press release from the Chief Secretariat of the Holy and Sacred Synod of the Ecumenical Patriarchate states:
The Ecumenical Patriarch and the Bishops residing in the City of Constantinople announce with profound sadness the passing to the Lord of the ever-remembered METROPOLITAN KYRILLOS OF MOSCHONISIA.
His Funeral Service will be chanted in the Holy Metropolitan Church of the Dormition of the Theotokos of Imbros, on Thursday, 29 May 2025, at 1:00 p.m.
George Dragounis was born in the village of Agridia, Imbros, on 9 January 1942. He graduated from the Theological School of Halki in 1967. He was ordained a deacon in 1967 by Metropolitan Maximos of Stavroupolis and a presbyter in 1985 by Metropolitan Bartholomew of Philadelphia. He served as Grand Archdeacon of the Patriarchate.
On 27 October 1985, he was ordained Titular Metropolitan of Seleucia. On 13 October 1994, he was promoted to active Metropolitan with the same title. On 5 September 2002, he was elected Metropolitan of Imbros. On 9 March 2020, he was elected Metropolitan of Moschonisia.
