Metropolitan Kosmas of Aetolia and Acarnania fell asleep in the Lord

Metropolitan Kosmas of Aetolia and Acarnania fell asleep in the Lord on Monday, January 3, early in the morning.

The Metropolitan was at Evangelismos Hospital since December 2.

The Metropolitan had recently suffered severe brain damage, and his state of health was considered irreversible.

In fact, they considered that the damage he had suffered after the stroke was such that the sick Metropolitan could hardly return to his duties.

Metropolitan Kosmas was extubated a few days ago according to the medical protocol which stipulates that after one month of hospitalization the patient must undergo a tracheostomy.

The Metropolitan of Aetolia tested positive for the coronavirus on November 18, initially remaining at his home.

Subsequently, his health deteriorated and it was deemed necessary to transport him to a hospital, which he initially denied.

Finally, he decided to be admitted to the hospital of Agrinio where he was intubated and on December 2 he was transferred to the “Evangelismos” Hospital.

It should be reminded that the sister of Metropolitan Kosmas also lost her life due to Covid-19.

The 75-year-old woman was transported to the hospital of Agrinio on December 2, a day after her brother.

She was unvaccinated and with serious underlying diseases and lived with the Metropolitan, in their home, in Agrinio.
