Memorial Services for the victims of the Tempe rail tragedy took place in all Churches of the Metropolis of Larissa

The Holy Metropolis of Larissa and Tyrnavos, in light of 28 February 2025, being the sorrowful second anniversary of the horrific Tempe train accident, gave an order for memorial services to be conducted on Sunday, 23 February 2025, before the end of the Divine Liturgy in all its Holy Churches.

Also, the Holy Metropolis of Larissa and Tyrnavos announced that on Friday, 28 February 2025, its offices, nor the offices of the Holy Churches, will be open.

Finally, on Friday, 28 February 2025, at 9:00 p.m., a Holy Vigil will take place at the Holy Metropolitan Church of Saint Achillios of Larissa, at the end of which Memorial Services will be held:

a) for the repose of the soul of the Late Archbishop Anastasios of Tirana and All Albania, on the occasion of the completion of forty days since his departure to the Lord, and

b) for the repose of the souls of the 57 victims of the Tempe train accident, who, as it is noted, “met an unjust and violent death in our land and thus became our own people.”
