Meeting of the Holy Synod of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine

The Orthodox Church of Ukraine has made changes to its internal structure, according to decisions taken after a meeting of the Holy Synod of the Church.

In particular, the regular meeting of the Holy Synod of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine was held.

The Holy Synod approved the appointment of Archpriest Bohdan Tymoshenko as head of the Synodal Department for Publications and Education and the appointment of Fr. Ivan Sydor as his deputy.

The Bishopric of Belocherki was also created, on the administrative boundaries of the homonymous region in the region of Kyiv, separating it from the province of Kyiv.

Archbishop Yevstratiy (Zoria) was appointed head of the Diocese.

A new Bishop of Chernihiv and Nizhyn has been appointed Antony Firley until recently a priest in the Metropolis of Kyiv.

Also, at the request of Archbishop Symeon and Bishop Metrophanes, the titles of the dioceses of Haskovo and Dnipropetrovsk were changed.

From now on, Bishop Symeon is Archbishop Dnipro and Sicheslav, and Bishop Mitrophan is the new Bishop of Kharkov and Slobozan.

The Holy Synod also adopted a special statement on the need to legally limit the intervention of the aggressor country (Russia) in the religious life of Ukraine.

It was also decided to convene a new meeting of the Bishops’ Council on May 24, which will discuss the issue of calendar reform.
