Inter-Orthodox Divine Liturgy at the Holy Monastery of Penteli, Greece
Following the resumption of the Plenary Sessions of the International Commission for the Theological Dialogue between the Orthodox and Anglicans in the hospitable place of the Inter-Orthodox Center of the Church of Greece at the Penteli Monastery, on Sunday, October 9, 2022, with the permission of His Beatitude Archbishop Ieronymos of Athens and the blessing of Metropolitan Ioannis of Thermopylae, Abbot of the Holy Monastery of the Dormition of the Virgin Mary in Penteli, a liturgy was held at the Inter-Orthodox Center of the Church of Greece, presided over by Metropolitan Athenagoras of Belgium (Ecumenical Patriarchate).
The liturgy was concelebrated by Metropolitan Seraphim of Zimbabwe (Patriarchate of Alexandria) and Metropolitan Nekrios of Kitium (Church of Cyprus) and with the participation of the clergy and clergymen participating in the Dialogue.
At the end of the Divine Liturgy, a Trisagion service was held for the late Metropolitans of Dioclea, Kallistos (Ware) and Philomelion, Ilia, Hierarchs of the Ecumenical Throne, who contributed to the Theological Dialogue between the Orthodox and the Anglicans, as its co-chair and representative of the Church of Albania respectively.
After the Divine Liturgy, Metropolitan Ioannis of Thermopylae spoke to the faithful about the hospitality of the Theological Dialogue between the Orthodox and the Anglicans at the Inter-Orthodox Center and the reopening of the Centre’s activities after the coronavirus period. Then, Metropolitan Athenagoras of Belgium thanked for the permission and blessing of the Divine Liturgy, addressed the faithful, and stressed the importance of Dialogue and especially of Orthodox worship as a testimony of Orthodoxy to other Christians.
