Holy Diocese of Perth: 650 Christmas Gifts for the Perth Children’s Hospital
On Thursday the 12th of December 2024, with the blessing of His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia, His Grace Bishop Elpidios of Perth presented to the Perth Children’s Hospital 650 Christmas presents from the Diocese of Perth.
The Christmas toys and gifts were collected and donated from across the Holy Diocese of Perth including the Church of Sts Constantine and Helene, the Church of St Nektarios, St Andrew’s Grammar in Dianella, Joondalup Early Learning Centre and others.
His Grace was greeted at the hospital by Mr Tony Dolan, an Executive Director at the hospital, and Mr Andy Wahid, Coordinator of the Volunteer Services. The hospital staff and volunteers thanked His Grace and the Diocese of Perth from the bottom of their heart for the generous donation.
His Grace conveyed the blessings of His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia to the hospital staff, thanked the Church volunteers who helped collect the toys and bring them to the hospital and finally wished everyone a very blessed Christmas.
The driving force behind the 2024 Toy Drive was Father Terry and Presvytera Stamatia Gerovasilis, from the Church of Sts Constantine and Helene, who for the third year in a row have undertaken this sacred task with the intention of giving back to the general community during the Christmas season.
A special thank you is extended to the Venoutsos family and New West Foods for transporting all the gifts to the hospital in one of their trucks.
