Holy Diocese of Chora: Wine Festival at the Parish of the Transfiguration of Our Lord, Thomastown

On Sunday, 8 June 8, the Parish of the Transfiguration of Our Lord in Thomastown, in the Holy Diocese of Chora, organised the annual Wine Festival, highlighting elements of Greek tradition, flavours, dance and culture.

His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia who was represented by His Grace Bishop Evmenios of Chora, conveyed the paternal wishes of His Eminence and warmly congratulated Fr. George Frangos, the committee, the volunteers and all the participants, for their organisation and lively presence.

In his speech, His Grace mentioned that the Wine Festival is not just another event; it is a unique opportunity for the descendants of Greeks in the diaspora to meet, remember, share memories and preserve, through actions, not only the taste, but also the ethos of the homeland.

Dance groups from various regions of Greece – from Thrace, Macedonia, Crete, Epirus and the Dodecanese – enriched the event with rhythm, traditional costumes and liveliness, offering an authentic cultural experience for young and old.
