Holy Diocese of Chora: The Feast Day of the Presentation of the Lord, Coburg

The great feast day of the Presentation of the Lord in the Temple was celebrated with particular splendour and spiritual joy on Sunday, 2 February 2025, at the Parish of the Presentation of Our Lord, in the Melbourne suburb of Coburg, in the Holy Diocese of Chora.
With the blessing of His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia, the Divine Liturgy was presided over by His Eminence Metropolitan Iakovos of Ireland, who was joined in concelebration by His Grace Bishop Evmenios of Chora, and clergy of the Holy Archdiocese. A multitude of faithful attended the Divine Liturgy with reverence, filling the Holy Church, to honour the feast and receive the grace of our Lord.
In his sermon, His Eminence Metropolitan Iakovos of Ireland, referred to the profound theological message of the Presentation of the Lord in Temple, emphasising the importance of the encounter of the God-man (Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ) with the righteous Simeon and the patterning of the salvation of the world. He spoke of the value of patience, the expectation of Divine Grace and trust in God’s promises, calling on the faithful to live with faith and gratitude to the Lord.
His Grace Bishop Evmenios of Chora, on behalf of His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia, warmly welcomed His Eminence Metropolitan Iakovos of Ireland, expressing his gratitude for his blessed presence and wishing him a pleasant stay in Australia and a safe journey back to Ireland and his Holy Metropolis.

After the Divine Liturgy, the Annual Parish Festival was held in the courtyard of the Church, which brought together a large number of parishioners. Those present had the opportunity to enjoy traditional dishes, Greek music and dances, in an atmosphere of joy and fellowship.
