Historic conference in Athens will seek fresh commitment to unity for church and humanity

The Commission of the Churches on International Affairs (CCIA) of the World Council of Churches will hold a Life and Work Centenary conference on 18-20 May 2025 in Athens, Greece.
The WCC Commission of the Churches on International Affairs (CCIA) will be holding its 60th meeting and a conference in Athens in May 2025, marking the centenary of the 1925 Stockholm Life & Work Conference which established the important foundations for the ecumenical movement and the World Council of Churches.
The Life and Work Centenary conference and the 60th meeting of the CCIA will be hosted by the Church of Greece.
The conference on the 1925 Stockholm Life and Work centenary will take place on 18-20 May, offering possibilities to follow it online.
On Sunday, 18 May at 15.00 the conference will be opened with a prayer by His Eminence Metropolitan Gabriel of Nea Ionia, followed by message from His Beatitude Archbishop Ieronymos of Athens and All Greece.
High-level greetings at the conference opening will be delivered by:
- Mr Makis Voridis, minister of Migration & Asylum,
- Mr. Nikos Papaioannou, deputy minister of Education, Religious Affairs, and Sports,
- Ms. Tereza-Paraskevi Angelatou, general secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
