Hierarchical Divine Liturgy in the cavernous Church of the Holy Spirit in Armeni, Sitia

On the morning of Monday, 9 June 2025, the feast of the Holy Spirit, His Eminence Metropolitan Kyrillos of Ierapytna and Sitia, officiated at the Matins service, celebrated, preached the holy sermon and blessed the five loaves (artoklasia) in the celebrating cave-like Church of the Holy Spirit, Parish of Armeni, Sitia, which is located among steep rocks at the entrance to the rare natural beauty of the Pervolakia gorge.
In his homily, His Eminence referred to the mission and work of the third Person of the Holy Trinity, the Holy Spirit, noting that our Church honours him particularly on the day after Pentecost, the birthday of the Church, and he wished that the Holy Spirit would enlighten and sanctify all of us.
The Hierarchical Divine Liturgy was attended by the Protosyncellus Archimandrite Ambrosios Skarvelis, the Priests of the Parishes of Armeni, Father Spyridon Vassilakis and of Chandra, Father Georgios Monios, and the Deacon Themistoklis Beinas.

Many devout Christians from the area attended the divine liturgy, including the Mayor of Sitia, Mr. Georgios Zervakis, the President of the Municipal Council, Ms. Maro Nikitaki, the President of the Armeni Cultural Association, Mr. Emmanouil Bantouvakis, and others.
