Hierachical Memorial for the late Archbishop Christodoulos of Athens and all Greece

In the Holy Church of Saint Theodoros, in the First Cemetery of Athens, a hierarchical Divine Liturgy and Memorial service was held today for the blessed Archbishop of Athens and All Greece Christodoulou, presiding over by the Metropolitan Theologos of Serres and Their Eminences, Metropolitan Dorotheos II of Syros and Metropolitan Nektarios of Kerkyra.

Accompanying within the sanctuary were the Metropolitans, Theoklitos of Vrestheni and Seraphim of Piraeus , along with many Priests and Deacons, as well as associates of Archbishop. Christodoulos of thrice-blessed memory.

His Eminence Metropolitan Nektarios of Corfu gave a speech praising the personality of Archbishop Christodoulos, referring to the multi-faceted personality of the Archbishop, emphasizing three elements of his Archpriesthood, in his effort to embrace all his classes and marginalized ”young people to the unsettled elderly, assuring them that the Church is close to them, its visions and concerns for the future of Greece and its predictions for what is happening today and finally the provision of spiritual advice and exhortations to those who were near him.

He also pointed out Christodoulos’s love and devotion to the Church and Greece and the legacies he left and which are always relevant, especially today, when an effort is being made to de-spiritualise, de-Christianize and de-Hellenize the Greek society.

Afterwards, a trisagion was performed on the snow-covered tomb of the late Archbishop.
