Greek President Katerina Sakellaropoulou: Demand for truth, accountability and justice for Tempe train accident is universal

On the occasion of the second anniversary since the train accident in Tempe, the President of the Hellenic Republic Katerina Sakellaropoulou said: “The tragedy of Tempe is a black page in our history. The pain and anger over the lives lost touches the whole of society. The accident and the open questions that accompany it shake citizens’ trust in the institutions.”

“Two years later, the demand for truth, accountability and justice is universal and of fundamental importance to our State,” concluded Sakellaropoulou.

It is recalled that the mass rally commemorating the 57 victims of the tragic rail accident at Tempe concluded with a speech by the mother of one of the victims, Maria Karystianou, on Friday afternoon.

Crowds of people of all ages packed Syntagma Square and the surrounding streets during the two hours of the rally, demanding justice.
