Greek PM Mitsotakis to visit Mount Athos on 4-5 July

Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis is expected to pay an official visit to Mount Athos in early July.

PM Kyriakos Mitsotakis will visit the Garden of the Virgin Mary on the weekend of 4 and 5 July 2025.

According to exclusive information transmitted by ope.gr, the Prime Minister will be accompanied by the Deputy Minister of National Economy and Finance Mr. Nikos Papathanasis, two of his friends and his son, Konstantinos.

According to the ope.gr report, the Prime Minister will visit the Holy Supervisory Committee in Karyes, the Holy Monasteries of Iviron, Vatopaidi, Simonos Petras, Xenophon and possibly the Holy Monastery of Megisti Lavra.

At the same time, the brotherhoods are preparing their program to welcome the Prime Minister.

The Prime Minister’s visit to the Garden of the Virgin Mary will be of particular importance since this event once again recognises the spiritual value of Mount Athos by the State.
