Greek Culture Minister visits Jerusalem and Ramallah for Byzantine monument preservation

Minister of Culture Lina Mendoni is visiting Jerusalem and Ramallah to conduct a series of inspections on Byzantine monuments in Jerusalem and Ramallah that require urgent protection and restoration.

A key focus of her visit is the preservation and conservation of cultural treasures under the custodianship of the Patriarchate of Jerusalem.

During her stay, Mendoni will meet with His Beatitude Patriarch Theophilos III of Jerusalem , and Israel’s Minister of Culture and Sports Mahlouf Zohar, to discuss cultural cooperation between Greece and Israel.

In Ramallah, she will hold meetings with Palestinian Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Hani Al-Hayek and Minister of Culture Imad Hamdan, as well as Mayor Isa Qassis.

As part of her visit, Mendoni will tour the Arafat Museum and the archaeological site of St. Stephen’s Monastery in Ramallah. In Jerusalem, she will attend a Divine Liturgy at the Church of the Resurrection and lay a wreath at the Yad Vashem Holocaust Memorial.
