Great Vespers of Saint John the Russian in Neo Prokopi, Evia

With particular splendour and moving participation of thousands of pilgrims from all over Greece and many parts of the world, the Great Vespers Service in memory of Saint John the Russian was celebrated on Monday afternoon, 26 May 2025, at the Holy Shrine of Saint John the Russian in Neo Prokopi, Evia, where his incorruptible and miraculous holy relics are kept as a priceless treasure.
At the Vespers service, His Eminence Metropolitan David of Grevena officiated and preached the holy sermon, with the co-officiating of Their Eminences, Metropolitan Seraphim of Karystia and Skyros, Metropolitan Nikandros of Eirinoupolis, Metropolitan Dionysios of Corinth, Metropolitan Nikiphoros of Gortynos and Megalopolis, His Grace Bishop Nicodemus of Skopelos, and the local Shepherd, His Eminence Metropolitan Chrysostomos of Chalkida.

Present, among the pilgrims attending the church celebrations, were leaders and representatives of political and military authorities and law enforcement agencies, while throughout the day the flow of pilgrims to Saint John remained uninterrupted and unabated, including young men and women who lead the groups of pilgrims on foot.
Immediately after the Vespers service, a holy vigil followed, which lasted until dawn on Tuesday, 27 May 2025.
