Ecumenical Patriarch congratulates Grand Ecclesiarch Aetios on successful Doctoral Defence

His All-Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew extended his paternal congratulations to Grand Ecclesiarch Aetios, Director of the Patriarchal Office, for the successful defence of his doctoral dissertation. The defence took place on Monday, 23 June 2025, at the Law School of Cardiff University.

The dissertation was entitled “The Creation of a System of Orthodox Canon Law: The Case of the Pedalion (1800),” and Archimandrite Aetios was awarded a Doctorate in Law with a specialisation in Canon Law.

Shortly after, Grand Ecclesiarch Aetios will depart from London to Rome, where he will participate as a member of the Patriarchal Delegation, led by His Eminence Elder Metropolitan Emmanuel of Chalcedon, at the Thronal Celebration of the Church of Rome, honouring the Feast of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul.
