Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew inaugurates a Nursery School in Agria, Volos

On Saturday morning, June 24, the second day of his visit to the city of Volos, His All-Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew inaugurated the “Holy Apostles” Nursery School of the Holy Metropolis of Dimitrias and Almyros, in Agria.

In his speech, His All-Holiness underlined that it is impossible to question the essential contribution of the Church over time in the area of care for children, pointing out that ” the church is the heir and exponent of the legacy of the Divine Founder and Builder (Jesus Christ), who countless centuries before the discovery of the idea of the child by modern Pedagogy, had turned to the children, characterising them as the first heirs of his Kingdom, expressing harsh words against those who would scandalise them.”

In another part of his speech, The Ecumenical Patriarch emphasised that “the holy mission of the Church is to contribute to the preserving of childhood, to highlight the importance of the development of the characteristics of the child’s soul, which are altered by the premature and uncontrolled entry of children into the realm of minors and its divisions”.

Previously, His All-Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew was cordially addressed by His Eminence Metropolitan Ignatios of Dimitrias and Almyros, who wished that His holy presence would constitute the most beautiful and most dynamic beginning of the new phase of the work of the nursery school of the local Metropolis, to the glory of God and the ministry of His people.
