Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew departs for Rome

His All-Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew departed on Friday, 25 April 2025, in the afternoon, by plane, for Rome, in order to attend the funeral service of the late Pope Francis which will take place on Saturday morning.
His All-Holiness is accompanied by His Eminence Elder Metropolitan Emmanuel of Chalcedon, the Grand Ecclesiarch Archimandrite Aetios, Director of the Personal Patriarchal Office, and Mr. Nicholas-Georgios Papachristou, Director of the Press and Communications Office of the Ecumenical Patriarchate.
Upon the arrival of the Ecumenical Patriarch at Rome Airport, His Eminence Metropolitan Polykarpos of Italy, will also join the Patriarchal Delegation.
His All-Holiness, who will return to Constantinople on Saturday evening, was escorted to the Constantinople Airport by His Eminence Elder Metropolitan Apostolos of Derkoi, and the Grand Protosyncellus Archimandrite Gregorios.
