Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew completed his official visit in Spain – He departed for France and Monaco

On Wednesday, 18 October 2023, His All-Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew visited the headquarters of the Spanish Roman Catholic Episcopal Assembly and met with its members.
The Ecumenical Patriarch was warmly welcomed by its Vice-President, Cardinal Carlos Osoro Sierra, due to the absence of its President in Rome.
Then, in a statement to the representatives of the Roman Catholic media, the Ecumenical Patriarch reiterated his call for peace and justice to prevail in the long-suffering Middle East, in Ukraine but also throughout the world.
Early in the afternoon, the Ecumenical Patriarch attended a luncheon hosted, organised by the Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey to Spain, Nuket Kucukel Ezberci, at her residence in Madrid.
Immediately afterwards, the Ecumenical Patriarch and his entourage departed for Nice, France. After visiting the Greek Orthodox Community there, the Ecumenical Patriarch will head to the Principality of Monaco to deliver the keynote speech at an international environmental conference, at the invitation of Prince Albert II of Monaco.
