Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew attended funeral service of the late Archon Leonidas Asteris
His All-Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew attended the funeral service of the late Leonidas Asteris, which was held at the Venerable Patriarchal Church of Saint George on Friday, 6 December 2024.
The funeral service was presided over by His Eminence Metropolitan Theoliptos of Iconium, accompanied by Metropolitans Stephanos of Kallioupolis and Madytos and Maximos of Silyvria. The Mother Church’s condolences were conveyed by Grand Archdeacon Alexander. The eulogy was delivered by the third-ranking Deacon, Barnabas.
Metropolitans Eirinaios of Myriophyton and Peristasis, Athenagoras of Kydonia, Ioakeim of Bursa, Bishops Benjamin of Trallee and Paisios of Xanthopolis, clergy of the Patriarchal Court, the Archdiocese of Constantinople, and neighbouring Metropolises, along with the Archons of the Great Church of Christ, relatives of the deceased, and representatives of the chanters, were also present.
The burial of the late Leonidas Asteris took place at the Cemetery of the Tramsfiguration in Şişli.
