Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew at the Inauguration Mass of Pope Leo XIV

On Sunday 18 May 2025, His All-Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew attended the Inauguration Mass of the new Pope of Rome, Leo XIV, at St. Peter’s Basilica at the Vatican.

The Ecumenical Patriarch was accompanied by His Eminence Metropolitan Job of Pisidia, co-chair of the Joint International Commission on Theological Dialogue between the Orthodox and Roman Catholic Churches, His Eminence Metropolitan Polykarpos of Italy, and the Codicographer of the Holy and Sacred Synod, Deacon Father Evlogios.

During the enthronement, the Ecumenical Patriarch also met with the delegation of the Patriarchate of Alexandria, which consisted of Their Eminences Metropolitan Seraphim of Zimbabwe, Metropolitan Gregorios of Cameroon, and Metropolitan Gennadius of Libya.

On Monday morning, 19 May 2025, the Patriarch will have a special meeting and conversation with the Pope.
