Divine Liturgy in the chapel of the Holy Forty Martyrs in Jerusalem
On Monday, October 24th / November 6th, 2023, Vespers were celebrated in the evening and the Divine Liturgy in the morning in the chapel of the Holy Forty Martyrs, adjacent to the Church of the Resurrection and the Cathedral of Saint James the Brother of God, where the holy relics of many of the Patriarchs of Jerusalem are kept.
This feast was held in memory of the owners of the Church of Saint James the Brother of God and the Patriarchs buried in this chapel.
The Divine Liturgy and the MemorialService for the repose of the souls were presided over by His Eminence Archbishop Theophanes of Gerassa with the co-celebration of Archimandrite Nicodemus, Father Farah and Hierodeacon Evlogios. The chanting was delivered by Hierodeacon Simeon as the service was attended by faithful Christians.
After the Divine Liturgy in the adjacent hall, boiled wheat (Kolyva) was offered for the repose of the souls of the departed.
