Cyprus: Feast Day of Saint Haralambos by the displaced people of Neo Chorio, Kythrea

The displaced people of Neo Chorio, Kythrea, honoured the memory of their patron saint, Saint Haralambos, with special reverence this year, preserving their connection with their roots and spiritual heritage. The feast day took place at the celebrating chapel of Saint Haralambos in Aglandjia, on Monday, 10 February 2025.
The festal Divine Liturgy was presided over by His Grace Bishop Gregorios of Mesaoria, who was joined by the priests of the chapel and the faithful, who came to honour their Saint and renew the hope of returning to the land of their ancestors.
In his homily, His Grace analysed the deeper meaning of the day’s Gospel passage and referred at length to the life, virtues and martyrdom of Saint Haralambos. He emphasised that the Saint is a shining example of strong faith and unwavering devotion to the will of God, offering Christians spiritual guidance and inspiration, especially in times of trial.
His Grace made special mention of the celebrating Community Leader of Trachoni, Kythrea, Mr. Haralambos Athanasiou, whom he praised for his valuable contribution to the Church and his many years of good cooperation, especially with the Office of the Bishop of Mesaoria. He emphasised his dedication and active participation in the organisation of ecclesiastical and community events, which strengthen the spirit of unity and faith among the displaced.
After the Divine Liturgy, a prayer was held for those displaced and their speedy return to their ancestral homes, followed by a litany of the holy icon of Saint Haralambos around the Holy Church.
