Crete: Weather blamed for mural coming unstuck at Knossos

Experts are seen clearing up the debris after a replica of the Dolphin fresco at the Minoan palace of Knossos in Crete collapsed, in a photo released on Saturday.

The incident took place on Friday, while the site was hosting some 300 visitors. The Culture Ministry responded to criticism about safety at the popular site saying that the mural’s collapse was the result of ‘adverse weather conditions,’ and added that this part of the palace complex has already been slated for restoration and repairs.
