Consecration of the Church of Saint Paisios in the ‘heart’ of Africa

On the Sunday of the Samaritan Woman, His Eminence Metropolitan Theodosios of Kinshasa consecrated the Holy Church of Saint Paisios in the city of Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo, specifically in the Mitendi area.

Saint Paisios, who is a great consolation for the entire Orthodox world, is also a consolation for all the faithful of the parishes of the Metropolis of Kinshasa. His Eminence, who was connected to the newly revealed Saint of our Church since childhood, proceeded to rebuild Churches in honour of Saint Paisios of Mount Athos both in Kananga and in Kinshasa.

During the consecration, Archdeacon Paisios explained to the faithful the rituals, while during the Communion Hymn he preached the Holy Sermon. Together with His Eminence, Archimandrites Chrysostomos and John, Presbyters Chrysostomos and Leo, Archdeacon Paisios and Deacons Hierotheos, Cyril, Peter and John concelebrated.

The Metropolitan, at the end of the Divine Liturgy, shared his joy with the joy of the faithful of the parish, conveyed to everyone the wishes of His Beatitude Pope and Patriarch Theodoros II of Alexandria and All Africa, thanked the donor of the Church both for the purchase of the land and for the reconstruction of the Church, while referring to the miraculous interventions of God with people who invoke Him with faith.

Everyone was offered a souvenir postcard with the image of Saint Paisios as a blessing for their homes. Also, in the right aisle of the Church, a second Holy Altar was consecrated in the name of Saint Dimitrios the Great Martyr.

Another parish has been added to the metropolis of Kinshasa for the glory of God, the glory of the Orthodox Church, and the salvation of people.
