Christmas Eve at the Metropolis of Zambia according to the Julian Calendar

On 7 January 2023, the local Orthodox family celebrated, as they do every year, Serbs, Russians and Ukrainians together, in the chapel of the Holy Metropolis of Zambia, the Feast Day of Christmas according to the Julian Calendar.
In his speech, Metropolitan Ioannis of Zambia conveyed the wishes of the Primate of the Alexandrian Church, His Beatitude Pope and Patriarch Theodore II of Alexandria and all Africa.
In his sermon, His Eminence Metropolitan Ioannis referred to the mystery of the incarnation of the Son and Word of God.
Concluding his speech, he wished the star of Bethlehem to illuminate the leaders of the world so that the prayer of the angels “Glory to God in the highest and on earth peace and good will among men” will come true.
His Eminence then blessed the traditional Christopsoma (Christmas bread) for each community and this was followed by a offering of hospitality and exchange of wishes at the episcopal residence.
