On the 5th and 6th of July 2024, His Grace Bishop Elpidios of Kyanea, accompanied by the Abbot of the Holy Monastery of St John in Forrestfield, Archimandrite Makarios Souris, travelled to the city of Albany in Western Australia to serve the spiritual needs of the small Greek Orthodox community that reside in the area.

Albany is a very popular tourist destination located at the southern tip of Western Australia, located 421 kilometres south of Perth.

On the second day of his arrival, His Grace Bishop Elpidios conducted the Matins Service and Divine Liturgy, giving the faithful the opportunity to participate in the sacrament of the Holy Eucharist.

In his sermon, His Grace directed the faithful’s attention to the Gospel reading of the day focusing on the verses, “Judge not, that you be not judged. For with the judgment you pronounce you will be judged, and the measure you give will be the measure you get”(Mt 7:1)

At the conclusion of the Divine Liturgy, His Grace conveyed to all the paternal love and blessings of His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia and reminded everyone of His Eminence’s forthcoming visit to Perth.
