Archbishop Makarios of Australia to visit Jervis Bay for the first time on the Feast Day of Saint John the Forerunner and Baptist

On Saturday, 7 January 2023, His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia will visit, for the first time, Jervis Bay in New South Wales and will liturgise at the Greek Orthodox Church of Saint John the Forerunner and Baptist.

The following is the announcement of the Archdiocesan District of Canberra, regarding the visit of His Eminence Archbishop Makarios and the celebration of the Synaxis of Saint John:

With great pleasure and joy, His Grace Bishop Bartholomew of Charioupolis, the Archiepiscopal Vicar of Canberra announces the inaugural visit of our Shepherd and Primate of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of Australia, His Eminence Archbishop Makarios to the Parish of St John in Jervis Bay, NSW  on Saturday 7 January 2023.

His Eminence will be honouring the parish for the feast of the Synaxis of St John. His Eminence will be celebrating Matins and the Divine Liturgy assisted by His Grace Bishop Bartholomew of Charioupolis and other Clergy.

The service will commence at 8.00am. Immediately after the service a traditional Panigiri will take place with live music, food and dancing in honour of His Eminence.
