Archbishop Ioannis of Albania arrives in Constantinople

On Friday, 13 June 2025, at 3:00 PM, His Beatitude Archbishop Ioannis of Tirana, Durres, and all Albania arrived at the International Airport in Constantinople, accompanied by the official delegation of the Autocephalous Orthodox Church of Albania.

At the airport, Archbishop Ioannis and his delegation were warmly received with honours by His Eminence Metropolitan Maximos of Selyvria and Deacon Oikoumenios, Undersecretary of the Holy and Sacred Synod of the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople.

Also present was Mr. Armand Shandro, the Consul-General of the Republic of Albania in Constantinople, who expressed the appreciation and support of the Albanian diplomatic mission for this important ecclesiastical visit.

Following their arrival, the delegation proceeded to and was accommodated at the Grand Hyatt hotel, where they will stay during their official visit to the Mother Church of Constantinople.

Archbishop Ioannis is accompanied by His Eminence Metropolitan Nicholas of Fier and Apollonia and His Eminence Metropolitan Astios of Berat, His Grace Bishop Anastasios of Kruja, Protosyncellus of the Holy Archdiocese, Protopresbyter Fr. Johan Mercouris, Hierarchical Commissioner of the Holy Metropolis of Gjirokastër, Archdeacon Fr. Johan Koroveshi, and Mr. Andreas Rebetsis, Professor at the University of Tirana and director of the “Breath of Love” Educational Foundation.
