Anglican-Orthodox Dialogue to be Hosted by Huffington Ecumenical Institute
At the invitation of Archbishop Elpidophoros of America, the next plenary meeting of the International Commission for Anglican-Orthodox Theological Dialogue (ICAOTD) will be hosted by the newly-established Huffington Ecumenical Institute at Hellenic College Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology next October 2024.
In announcing this Dialogue, Archbishop Elpidophoros commented, “It is an immense honor to host one of the most important dialogues of the Ecumenical Patriarchate for the first time officially within the Archdiocese and at the Huffington Ecumenical Institute on the campus of our beloved seminary, where it will serve to showcase the ecumenical vision of our Patriarch throughout our communities. I look forward to welcoming the members of the commission.”
The dialogue is the oldest ongoing bilateral theological conversation between the Anglican Communion and the Orthodox Church. The current Dialogue is co-chaired by Metropolitan Athenagoras of Belgium (Orthodox) and His Grace Bishop Michael Lewis in Jerusalem (Anglican). Orthodox participants comprise representatives of Autocephalous Churches from all over the world: including but not only from Alexandria and Antioch, to Jerusalem and Georgia, as well as Greece and Cyprus. Anglican participants range from Australia and Canada, England and the Middle East, as well as Brazil and Ceylon.
