A Greek-African Tsiknopempti in Lamia

His Eminence Metropolitan Symeon of Fthiotida, once again met with and shared personal time with the students of the Ecclesiastical School of Lamia “Saint Vissarion the Agathonite”, from Greece but also from Zambia and Mozambique, who reside both in the Girls’ Home at the House of Love in Galaneika under the supervision of Ms. Stavroula Peleki, and in the Boys’ Home in Nea Magnesia under the supervision of Archimandrite Herodion Rizos, and spent time with them on the day of Tsiknopempti.

Metropolitan Symeon visited both the Girls’ Orphanage, where he was lovingly welcomed by the Director of the Foundation, Ms. Stavroula Peleki, with her colleagues and the girls hosted there, as well as the Ecclesiastical High School and Lyceum of Lamia “Saint Vissarion the Agathonite”, where he was welcomed by the Director of the School, Mr. Ioannis Zacharakis, along with all the staff of the Ecclesiastical Boarding House and the hosted boys from various regions of Greece and from Africa.

On the occasion of Tsiknopempti, the students residing in the Ecclesiastical Home of the Holy Metropolis, including students from Zambia and Mozambique, observed the traditional Roumeli customs of Tsiknopempti by cooking and “grilling” together, singing and dancing traditional songs of the region.

His Eminence blessed the celebratory table and delighted the children, who were particularly pleased with the presence of their Shepherd, Metropolitan Symeon, on this festive day.
