Metropolitan of Zambia: Concerns over Christian displacement and persecution in Africa
A meeting took place between His Eminence Metropolitan John of Zambia and Mozambique and the newly appointed Apostolic Nuncio of the Holy See, Gian Luca Perici, in Lusaka, the capital of Zambia.
During the meeting, Metropolitan John conveyed the greetings and well wishes of His Beatitude Pope and Patriarch Theodore II of Alexandria, congratulating the Nuncio on his new appointment and expressing hopes for a fruitful ministry. The two leaders engaged in a meaningful discussion on issues affecting Zambia and sub-Saharan Africa more broadly.
Their dialogue touched upon pressing concerns, particularly the displacement and persecution of Christian communities in Africa and other regions worldwide. Both expressed their shared commitment to addressing these challenges through mutual understanding and cooperation.
As the meeting concluded, the Metropolitan and the Nuncio exchanged festive greetings and gifts in anticipation of the Christmas celebration, emphasising their shared dedication to fostering peace and solidarity.
