Melbourne: Feast Day of Saint Patapios at the Church of Saint Athanasios, Springvale
On Sunday, 8 December, His Grace Bishop Kyriakos of Melbourne, liturgised on the feast day of Saint Patapios at the Church of Saint Athanasios, in the Melbourne suburb of Springvale, and was joined by Parish Priest Father Dimitrios Drougas.
During the Divine Liturgy, Bishop Kyriakos preached the homily, focusing on the meaning of the Gospel reading of the day.
At the end of the Divine Liturgy, Father Dimitrios expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the Bishop of Melbourne for his visit to the Parish, while His Grace conveyed to everyone the wishes and blessings of His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia.
After the Divine Liturgy, His Grace was invited by Father Dimitrios and the Church Committee to remain for tea and coffee in the parish hall.
Students from the Springvale campus of the “Aetolian College” Greek School were present, and they sang traditional Greek carols.
His Grace congratulated the children and offered them a gift of Christmas sweets and icons of the patron saint of their Parish, Saint Athanasios.
