5.3-magnitude tremor strikes Mount Athos

A 5.3-magnitude earthquake struck Mount Athos in northern Greece at noon on Saturday. No damages or injuries were immediately reported.
The tremor occurred just before 4 p.m. with the epicenter located nine kilometers west-northwest of Karyes, the main town of the monastic community, according to the Geodynamic Institute of Athens.
It had a focal depth of 12.5 kilometers and was felt in several areas of Northern Greece. It was followed by a 3.8-magnitude aftershock in the same area, with a focal depth of only five kilometers.
